Victor Sebastian Turns Modern Dating Into Tragicomedy On New Single Soulmates

Copenhagen, DK — July 10, 2026

Victor Sebastian returns with Soulmates, a tragicomic pop song about having too many feelings and too little sense of consequence. On the surface it is cheeky and quick-witted, built around the line "I'm not a slut, I got a lot of soulmates." Underneath the joke lies something sadder, a song about love, guilt, longing, and the small self-deceptions of modern dating.

The track sits in his vintage pop world: warm, melodic, ironic and bittersweet, with a retro glint and a modern restlessness beneath the surface. He calls it lover boy pop with a moral hangover. Written by Victor Sebastian and composed with David Rosing-Schow, it runs just over two minutes, short and immediate. On its debut, it landed on New Music Friday in Denmark and Iceland and on Apple Music's Best New Songs and New Music Daily.

Soulmates is written about a love that felt like an adventure and never got the commitment it asked for. It follows two people who saw themselves as divas and collected broken hearts, unable to choose each other, themselves, or anyone at all, so they chose everyone. It is the strange move of turning your own romantic chaos into a personality, and Victor Sebastian plays it for both the comedy and the ache.

Victor Sebastian is a Copenhagen-based songwriter and artist working in melodic, off-kilter pop with warmth, wit, and a vintage edge. He fronted the band PowderCloud before his solo project took shape in Los Angeles in 2022, developed with producer Breyer White. He writes prolifically, from harmony-rich pop to leaner, funk-tinged cuts, and is working toward a debut album due in 2027. Soulmates follows Howlin' and Edge The Stars as this year's run of singles continues.
